The Health Promotion and Education major focuses on methodologies for planning, implementing and evaluating educational an change programs that enhance health. Students are prepared for positions that emphasize program planning, health promotion, health education, disease prevention and social action. Graduates work in business, voluntary, non-profit and governmental agencies at the local, county, state and federal levels.

Health Promotion and Education graduates are prepared to:
 •  assess individual and community needs
 •  apply principles of community organizations, health behavior and educational processes to plan effective health promotion/education programs
 •  implement, administer and evaluate health promotion/education programs
 •  apply appropriate research methods in health promotion/education
 •  coordinate provision of health promotion/education services
 •  act as health promotion/education resource
 •  demonstrate mastery of health promotion/education knowledge that is critical to the role of health promotion/education professional.

Requirements
The applicants seeking to pursue the Environmental and Occupational Health major should have a minimum of a baccalaureate in a scientific discipline. Required foundation courses include college level mathematics (calculus recommended, but not required), inorganic and organic chemistry, biology (including microbiology), and basic physics.
